I start slow with sneakers on the cold floor, soft steps, pulling you in before you even notice. Then I stop and slip them off, white socks brushing the floor for a second too long. Then high heels go on, the rhythm changes and it’s sharper now. I walk away without looking back, leaving the sneakers behind. I’m gone and you’re left alone with them, staring, replaying, pretending you’re fine. While the denial quietly kicks in!
