The well-fixed slave now receives the branding. The previously drawn letters M I A are now burned into the slave’s skin with a soldering iron. The slave whines in between about the suffering. But he is still surprisingly calm, because he sees the treatment by his mistress as his duty and task and endures it accordingly.
